About MindNest

A safe space for children to grow

At MindNest, I believe that every child deserves to feel heard, understood, and supported.

I’m Dr. Sophia Lawson, a child psychologist based in Worsley, Manchester. I provide a warm and supportive environment where children can explore their emotions, develop confidence, and learn ways to navigate the challenges they may face.

My work is centred around the individual child. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, I take time to understand each child’s personality, experiences, strengths, and needs.

Meet Dr. Sophia Lawson

Working with children has always reminded me of the importance of listening without judgement and creating an environment where young people feel safe enough to be themselves.

I take a compassionate and child-centred approach, adapting the way I work to suit each child’s age, personality, communication style, and individual circumstances.

Whether a child is experiencing anxiety, difficulties with confidence, emotional challenges, behavioural changes, or simply finding a particular stage of life difficult, my aim is to help them understand what they are experiencing and develop practical ways to cope.

Supporting the whole family

A child’s wellbeing is closely connected to the people and environment around them. That’s why parents and caregivers are an important part of the process.

Where appropriate, I work collaboratively with parents, offering guidance and practical strategies that can help support positive changes beyond our sessions.

I want families to feel that they have someone they can talk to, ask questions, and turn to for support throughout the journey.

My philosophy

I believe that meaningful change often begins with a relationship built on trust.

Children may not always have the words to explain how they feel, and sometimes their behaviour communicates what they cannot yet express. By creating a safe and accepting space, we can begin to understand what lies beneath those feelings and behaviours.

My approach is based on compassion, collaboration, and respect for each child’s individuality. I focus not only on challenges, but also on strengths, progress, and the qualities that can help children develop resilience and confidence.

A journey taken together

Seeking psychological support for your child can feel like a big step. You may have questions, concerns, or simply a feeling that something isn’t quite right.

You don't need to have all the answers before reaching out.

At MindNest, the first step is simply a conversation. We can talk about what you’re experiencing, explore your concerns, and consider what kind of support might be helpful.
